A study on the current situation and influencing factors of premenstrual syndrome in clinical nurses

Abstract:Objective To investigate the current situation of premenstrual syndrome in nurses and identify its associated factors,provi-ding theoretical evidence for the formulation of a healthcare intervention system for nurses.Methods The general data questionnaire,Premen-strual Syndrome Scale,Menstrual Attitude Questionnaire and Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire were used to investigate premenstrual syn-drome-related information in 306 nurses from 18 departments of a grade A tertiary hospital in Ningxia.Results The incidence of premenstru-al syndrome among nurses was 56.21%.Binary Logistic regression analysis showed that age,work department,body mass index,menstruation attitude and coping style were main factors significantly associated with premenstrual syndrome(P<0.01 or P<0.05).Conclusion The study revealed a relatively high prevalence of premenstrual syndrome in clinical nurses.It is recommended that nursing managers take targeted and professional interventions to improve the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome and reduce its prevalence.
