Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of community home visit based on behavioral stage theory on drug compliance behavior of elderly diabetes patients. Methods The elderly diabetics were divided into two groups with 64 cases in each. The control group were given conventional home nursing, and the experimental group received the community home nursing based on behavioral stage theory. Before intervention and 3, 6 months after intervention, the drug compliance score and blood glucose between two groups were compared. The drug compliance behavioral stage changes were compared before and after intervation. Results The drug compliance score of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group at 3 and 6 months after intervention (P<0.01 or P<0.05).After intervention, the fasting blood glucose, 2 hours postprandial blood glucose and glycosglated hemoglobin of the experimental group were lower than those of the control group at 3 and 6 months after intervention, and drug compliance behavioral stage changes in the experimental group were better than that of the control group (P<0.01 or P<0.05).Conclusion The community home visit based on behavioral stage theory can perfect drug compliance behavior of elderly diabetes patients, improve the drug compliance, and help them effectively control blood glucose.
