Study on the correlation between death attitudes and inner strength in elderly patients with chronic diseases in rural areas

Abstract：Objective To investigate the present situation of death attitude and inner strength among rural elderly patients with chronic diseases,then to discuss their relationship.Methods A total of 405 rural elderly patients with chronic diseases were investigated with general condition questionnaire,the elderly death attitude scale and the Inner Strength Scale(ISS).Results The death attitude among the rural elderly patients with chronic diseases tended to be naturally accepted with a score of (14.65±3.05),the inner strength was a moderately low level with a score of (83.21± 13.52).The death attitude was negative correlated with the inner strength (P＜0.01 or P＜0.05).Conclusions Medical staff should pay attention to the death attitude of patients with chronic diseases in rural areas and take appropriate intervention measures to improve their quality of life.
