Status and the influencing factors of nurses' aging knowledge in geriatric care institutes

Abstract：Objective To investigate status and the influencing factors of nurses' aging knowledge in geriatric care institutes in Shanghai,and provide basis to nursing training.Methods A total of 510 nurses from 46 geriatric care institutes were investigated by general information questionnaire and Facts on Aging Quiz (FAQ).Results The average score of FAQ in nurse from Shanghai geriatric care institutes was (11.44 ± 3.05).Working year and whether had good relationship with elderly were the major influencing factors of FAQ scores.Conclusion The aging knowledge level of nursing staff in Shanghai geriatric care institutes is low,measures need to be taken to strengthen the training of geriatric nurse and improve geriatric nursing quality.
