The correlation of professional identity and humanistic care efficacy in master degree nurses

Abstract:Objective To investigate the current condition of caring efficacy and professional identity among nurses with master degree and analyze their correlation.Methods A total of 185 nurses with master degree from six 3A-level hospitals in Shandong province were in?vestigated with general information questionnaire,Professional Identity Scale and Caring Efficacy Scale(CES).Results The total score of the professional identity in master degree nurses was(33.26±6.19),the total score of CES in master degree nurses was(114.34±14.84).Pearson correlation analysis showed that the points of caring efficacy in master degree nurses was positively correlated to the professional identity (r=0.433,P<0.01).Regression analysis showed professional identity could independently explain 20.0% of the variance for caring efficacy in master degree nurses after controlling demographic variables.Conclusion Caring efficacy and professional identity of nurses with master de?gree were need to improve.It is suggested that nursing managers should take effective measures to improve their professional identity,then their human caring level would increase,ultimately promote the nursing quality.
