The occurrence status of procedural pain in neonatal intensive care unit

Abstract:Objective To investigate the occurrence status of procedural pain in neonatal intensive care unit during hospitalization and then provide evidence for the clinical pain management.Methods A total of 70 cases in neonatal intensive care unit were selected as the research objects and bedside observation were used to record the painful procedural caused by diagnosis,nursing and treatment during hospitalization.Results The median of newborn suffered from painful procedural was 12.5 (6.75,30.25) and 4 (2,7) per people per day.The most commonly occurred in painful operation was blood collection in heel(27.09%) and they had different pain scores resulted from different gestational age (P < 0.05).Conclusion Neonates in neonatal intensive care unit experience a large amount of pain,and premature infants go through much more painful operation than term infants.It is imperative to pay attention to regulate pain management.
