Application research of "5E" prevention strategy in fall risk management of hospitalized elderly patients

Abstract：Objective To use "5E" prevention strategy to carry out fall risk management for hospitalized elderly patients,in order to provide a basis for re-ducing the incidence of falls in elderly patients. Methods Totally,268 elderly medical patients were selected as the study objects. 136 cases in the control group received routine care. 132 cases in the intervention group were carried out the "5E" prevention strategy intervention which refered to evaluation,education preven-tion,environmental improvement,engineering and enhancement. Result The incidence of falls in the intervention group was significantly lower than that in the con-trol group,the cognitive rate of falls in the intervention group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P <0. 01). Conclusion The "5E" prevention strategy is helpful to improve the recognition rate of falls,reduce the incidence of falls and enhance the safety of elderly inpatients.
