The research on relations among self-esteem, anxiety and depression of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus

Abstract：Objective To investigate the status of self-esteem,anxiety and depression of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus,to analyze the relations among them and explore the influencing factors of self-esteem.Methods Totally,221 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were investigated with Rosenberg self -esteem scale,generalized anxiety disorder 7-item scale and patient health questionnaire 8-item scale.Results The score of self-esteem of patients with type 2 diabetes was (26.52 ± 4.07),which was significantly lower than the national norm (P ＜ 0.01).The number of complications anxiety and depressionwere influencing factors of self-esteem.Conclusion The type 2 diabetes patients have a lower level of self-esteem.Nurses should pay attention to the patients with high levels of number of complications anxiety and depression while implementing nursing intervention or health education,and help them to do self-psychological adjustment,so as to improve their level of self-esteem.
