The application effect of PICC extended nursing in primary hospitals

Abstract:Objective To explore the application effect of PICC extended nursing of cancer patients whose catheters need maintenance outside the hospital.Methods A total of 202 discharged cancer patients with PICC were divided into observation group(n =102) and control group(n =100).Control group set up PICC maintenance stations with the primary hospital at the central,training staff,standard process and operating procedure of PICC.PICC registered nurses from hospital regularly came to township hospital to exam and evaluate their maintenance to ensure the quality.Control group returned original hospitals to maintain PICC.Results The incidence of catheter-related complications had no statistically significant difference between observation group and control group (P > 0.05).Observation group was more satisfied with the service than that of control group (P < 0.05).Conclusion The PICC extended nursing in primary hospitals was convenient for cancer patients to maintain PICC,which reduce cost and improve patient satisfaction.
