Effect of enteral nutrition time on nutritional status and clinical outcomes in patients with severe acute pancreatitis

Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of enteral nutrition time on nutritional status and clinical outcomes in patients with severe acute pancreatitis,to provide reference for clinic nurses.Methods Observed the dynamic changes of serum albumin and clinic outcomes of 205 patients with severe acute pancreatitis within 48 h.Results The serum albumin count continued to rise significantly in 5 days and 10 days when performed the enteral nutrition in patients with acute pancreatitis occurred within 48 h,and the incidence of pancreatic infection,multiple organ dysfunction syndrome,pneumonia and respiratory failure were decreased,the hospitalization time and cost were reduced (P < 0.01 or P < 0.05).But bacteremia indicators were not statistically different (P > 0.05).Conclusion Early start enteral nutrition can decrease the incidence of pancreatic infection and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome,pneumonia and respiratory failure,reduce hospitalization time and cost in patients with acute pancreatitis.
