The effect of cognitive behavior therapy on posttraumatic growth of the breast cancer patients

Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of cognitive behavior therapy on posttraumatic growth (PTG) in patients with breast cancer.Methods Breast cancer patients were divided into the experimental group and the control group with 30 cases in each.The experimental group received routine care combined with cognitive behavior therapy of positive psychology,while the control group received routine care.Results The scores of posttraumatic growth inventory,confrontation,avoidance,and sense of coherence in the experimental group were significantly higher than that of the control group (P < 0.01 or P < 0.05),the score of yield dimension was lower than the control group (P < 0.01).Conclusion The cognitive behavior therapy of positive psychology therapy can improve the posttraumatic growth level,the mental state and quality of life of breast cancer patients.
