The effect of mindfulness-based stress reduction on anxiety, depression and quality of life in infertile patients

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the effect of mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) on anxiety and depression and quality of life in infertile patients.Methods Totally,73 infertile patient were divided into the experimental group(38 cases) and the control group(35 cases).Both groups received the routine health education,and the experimental group received the MBSR in and out of the hospital.All patients were investigated using the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS),Self Rating depression Scale(SDS) and Fertility Quality of Life(FertiQoL) before and after the intervention.Results The score of SAS and SDS in experimental group were significantly lower than before and those of the control group (P < 0.01 or P < 0.05),the score of FertiQoL were significandy higher than before and those of the control group (P < 0.01).Conclusion The MBSR can reduce the anxiety and depression in irffertile patient,and enhance their quality of life.
