Investigation of depression level and influencing factors among elderly patients at discharge

Abstract：Objective To investigate the depression level and the influencing factors of among elderly patients at discharge and the influencing factors.Method Totally,316 elderly patients in Yinchuan were investigated by Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS) and Activity of Daily Living Scale (ADL).Results The total incidence rate of the elderly depression was 50.95 ％,GDS score was (5.02 ± 3.41),significantly higher than domestic norm (3.50 ± 2.80)(P ＜ 0.01).Multiple logistic regression analysis confirmed that the career before retirement,economic sources,types of disease,living self-care ability were the influencing factors of elderly depression at discharge.Conclusion The incidences of depressive symptoms and depression levels of elderly patients are higher,nursing staff should aim at influencing factors of depression symptoms and early psychological intervention,to reduce the occurrence of elderly depressive symptoms.
