Cultivation of junior nurses’ability of predictive thinking in ICU

Abstract：Objective To explore the methods and effect of training of junior nurses’ ability of predictive thinking in ICU. Methods Fifty junior nurses who had worded for less than 5 in ICU were recruited using convenient sampling method from 2011 July to 2012 December,and were trained using learning theo-ry,scene simulation exercises,morning meeting and case analysis methods. Nurses’performonce in theory exam and skill test and the incidence of nursing defects were compared before and after intervention. Results Nurses’performonce in theory exam and skill test significantly increased(P ﹤ 0. 05),and the incidence of nursing defects significantly decreased(P ﹤ 0. 05). Conclusion Cultivating junior nurses’ ability of predictive thinking in ICU can improve the comprehensive quality of nurses,improve nurses’ ability to find nursing risks,and improve the quality of nursing for critically ill patients,in order to ensure nursing safety.
