Effects of cognitive intervention to families on improving psychological status and coping styles of patients with lung cancer

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the effects of synchronous cognitive therapy of family members on improving psychological status and coping styles of lung cancer patients. Methods A total of 300 lung cancer patients with postoperative chemotherapy were randomly divided into two groups. Synchronous cogni-tive therapy and conventional care for family members were implemented in the experimental group and the control group,respectively. The mental health status and coping style of patients were compared between the two groups. Results The score of psychological status in the experimental group was lower than that of control group(P﹤0. 01). The score of confrontment dimension in experimental group was higher than that of control group(P﹤0. 01). The score of avoidance and surrender dimensions in experimental group was lower than those in the control group(P﹤0. 01 or P﹤0. 05). Conclusion Synchronous cognitive therapy to family members can effectively improving psychological status and coping styles of lung cancer patients.
