The influence of psychological capital on psychiatric nursesˊworkplace ostracism and job performance

Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationship between workplace ostracism and job performance and the mediating role of psychological capital a-mong psychiatric nurses. Methods Totally,767 psychiatric nurses from 18 psychiatric mental health centers in Liaoning Province were investigated using Work Place Ostracism Scale,Psychological Capital Questionnaire( PCQ)and Job Performance Scale. Results Workplace ostracism was negatively associated with job performance and psychological capital was positively associated with job performance. Workplace ostracism explained 2. 8% of variance in job performance while psychological capital explained 20. 6% of variance in job performance. The direct,indirect and total effect of workplace ostracism on job performance were-0. 04,-0. 139 and -0. 179,respectively. Conclusion Workplace performance and psychological capital are predictive values in evaluating job performance, and psychological capital had a completely mediating effect in the relationship between workplace ostracism and job performance.
