Abstract:Municipal wastewater is one of the important phosphorus sinks. To reclaim phosphorus recovery from sewage sludge is conducive to alleviation of eutrophication of the surface water and making up for the phosphorus shortage. In general, enhanced biological phosphorus removal(EBPR)and chemical phosphorus removal(CPR)are used in wastewater treatment processes and in both cases phosphorus is enriched into the wastewater sludge.Further, the following anaerobic digestion of sludge would provide a favorable condition in which vivianite(vivianite,Fe3(PO4)2·8H2O)is formed. Therefore, vivanite could be a dominant form of phosphate, and compared with the traditional phosphorus recovery methods such as struvite and sludge incineration, vivianite has high economic value and is of easy availability,so it has attracted more and more attention. This paper summarize the research progress in vivianite-related phosphorus recovery from digested sludge, including its formation mechanism, physical and chemical properties, influencing factors,enrichment/recovery methods, and so on.
