Abstract:Adsorption tests were performed to measure the adsorption capacity of aerobic inactivated sludge to triclosan. The adsorption equilibrium time was also investigated. The adsorption isotherms were established at 10 ℃,20 ℃ and 30 ℃.The distribution coefficient Kd,Kom and Koc were calculated. The thermodynamic characteristics of aerobic inactivated sludge to triclosan were studied. The results indicated that the adsorption equilibrium was established in 1h;when MLSS was 2 200 mg/L,the adsorption rate was 82.4%.The experimental data of equilibrium concentrations were well correlated by both Freundlich and linear adsorption isothermal models.Distribution coefficients Kd (L/kg) decreased with increasing temperature. The distribution coefficients (Kd) of aerobic inactivated sludge were 2 957(10 ℃)>2 195(20 ℃) >1 788(30 ℃).The adsorption behavior of activated sludge and inactivated sludge to TCS was the same, and the adsorption rate was close to the same. The adsorption of triclosan on sludge was mainly physical adsorption.Sorption thermodynamic parameters such as Gibbs free energy (△G),enthalpy change (△H) and entropy change (△S) were less than zero. The sorption thermodynamics indicated that the adsorption was spontaneous and exothermic process.Lower temperature was favorable to the adsorption process.
