Abstract:Raw water sample was taken from Taihu Lake, into which aniline was added to simulate the source water contaminated by aniline in a pollution accident. In this simulation study the aniline-polluted water samples were treated by an integrated ultrafiltration technique in a bench scale experiment. The integrated ultrafiltration technique was characterized by using potassium permanganate and powder activated carbon to enhance aniline-removing from water by ultrafiltration. The simulation study showed that powder activated carbon and potassium permanganate have certain effects of aniline removal, the best reaction time was 30 min for emergency response, and the best aniline removal rate achieved was 85% by adding powdered activated carbon and then potassium permanganate into the water sample before the ultrafiltration. The ratio of powdered activated carbon to potassium permanganate is about 55 mg:2.4 mg.At the same time, compared with traditional conventional water treatment process, ultrafiltration has a series of advantages including a wide range of particle size removal,anti-powder activated carbon load, and the ability to avoid sand filter layer being penetrated.
