Abstract:The pollution of source water has been a serious problem in drinking water treatment process.Under the structure unchanged, the original aeration tank was changed to biological pretreatnent, and sand filter was transformed into bio-filter by pilot and full-scale test. The results showed that in the pilot biological pretreatment process, removal of permanganate index and NH4+-N were about 16.4% and 60.5%,and the highest biomass on packing was 28.6 nmol P/(g filler).By pilot biofilter treating processes, permanganate index and NH4+-N removal reached 33.4% and 87.5%,and removal of 74.7% and 24.3% were turbidity and color. The biomass was 37.8 nmol P/(g filler) on packing. In full-scale biological pretreatment process, permanganate index and NH4+-N removal stabilized at 19.2% and 68.3%.In full-scale bio-filter and sand filter,30.7% and 5.6% of permanganate index could be removed, and the removal of NH4+-N and UV254 were 81.3%,25.6% and 16.4%,0.03% repectively.Compared with full-scale sand filter,full-scale bio-filter decreased by 63.8% of total AOC,and the concentration of total AOC was lower than 100 μg acid carbon/L.
