Abstract:A fluoranthene-degrading bacterial strain named as IcdP1 was isolated from the river sediment which has been contaminated by polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).This strain was identified as Rhodococcus sp.through morphological observation and 16S rDNA sequences homology analysis. The degradation properties of fluoranthene by the strain were studied. The results showed that when the initial concentration of fluoranthene was 50 mg/L,31.69% of the total was degraded by IcdP1 after 42 d.The degradation ability of IcdP1 for fluoranthene could be enhanced after adding external carbon sources such as mixture of anthracene phenanthrene, glucose, maltose and humic acid (HA).Among these external carbon sources, the most obvious reinforcement effect was achieved for glucose, and the best linear correlation relationship between biomass and fluoranthene removal was also obtained. The result suggested that glucose was suitable for fluoranthene cometabolism as biodegradation substrate of IcdP1.Dynamics analysis showed that the degradation follows the first order kinetic degradation model whether or not to add glucose as external carbon source. However, the removal efficiency of fluoranthene by IcdP1 was markedly increased after adding glucose.
