Abstract:The study is conducted by BDD anode and stainless steel cathode. The inactivation effects of algae by electrochemical oxidation of BDD anode because of its good electrochemical properties are investigated.Parameters such as current density, the ratio of A/V,inter-electrode gap,the initial pH and the initial density of algae are discussed. The relationship of time and energy consumption under certain conditions is analyzed. The results show that the effect of current density,A/V and the initial density of algae are significant. However the effect of inter-electrode gap is not obvious. The best inactivation efficiency of algae is at initial pH of 4.The inactivation efficiency of algae in alkaline condition is better than weakly acidic and neutral condition in initial stage. At a current density of 17 mA/cm2,the ratio of A/V of 9.75 m-1,interelectrode gap of 0.7 cm,the initial pH of 7.0,algae density of 1.2×109~1.4×109,the reaction fits well with the first-order kinetics (k=0.032 4,R2=0.997),and the great inactivation of algal cells could be achieved needing 37.69 kW· h/m3 energy by BDD electrode within 90min.Energy consumption and time show a good linear relationship.
