Abstract:To study the characteristics of composition and chemical reactivity of Tianjin,an online monitoring of volatile organic compounds was made during May ~ Sept,2014 in Binhai New Area,Tianjin. The result showed that the average concentration was 90.5×10-9 and the major components of VOCs were alkanes, alkene and arenes, accounting for 60.7%,29.0% and 10.3% of the total VOCs,respectively.According to the assessment of both propene-equivalent concentrations and ozone formation potential, alkenes of C2~C5 were shown to play a dominant role in photochemical reaction of which 1,3-butadiene,propene and ethene were the top compounds. The average mixing incremental reactivity (MIR) of VOCs in Tianjin is 3.08,which was about 1/3 of that of propylene. The ratio of M/P-xylene to ethylbenzene concentration as the index of the age of air mass showed that VOCs in Tianjin were not only from local emission but also long-range transport.
