Abstract:To investigate the factor sensitivity and mechanisms in the photodegradation of bisphenol A (BPA) by UV irradiation, the UV radiant intensity (A),the initial BPA concentration (B),pH (C) and rotation rate (D) were selected as four factors, and every factor had four variable levels for the design of orthogonal test.In the researched scope of each factor, the order of the factor sensitivity for the BPA degradation rate was A>B>C>D,using the extremum difference method and the analysis of variance (ANOVA).Among these factors, the effect of UV radiant intensity and the initial BPA concentration was significant and had control effect on BPA degradation (p<0.05),while pH and the rotation rate had little effect on the degradation rate of BPA (p>0.05).In combination with the HPLC spectrum, the possible degradation pathways were deduced and the mechanism was especially affected by the pH value of BPA solution in this study.Concretely,BPA reacted with the radicals produced by the UV radiation to form OH-BPA in alkaline solutions (pH=11);and under acid or neutral conditions BPA was decomposed to phenol by these radicals directly.Main intermediates were deduced through the confirmation of the standard substance.
