Abstract:Alleviation method of heavy metal pollution damage to the plant has become one of the hot points in the world.Copper (Cu) is an essential trace nutrient element for plant growth and development, however its excessive accumulating in soil is becoming a severe threat to crop production as well as human health. The presence of excessive amount of Cu may cause toxicity to plants, resulting in stunted growth, strong reduction in biomass production, damage of the photosynthetic apparatus, reduction in chlorophyll content and disturbance of mineral nutrition and carbohydrate metabolism.Potassium (K) is an essential nutrient element for plant growth and development, and application of potassium fertilizer (K2SO4) can significantly increase the resistance of plants to heavy metal stress. To understand the regulative effect of K on the physiological and biochemical responses of Corydalis yanhusuo plants under Cu stress, two C.yanhusuo cultivars,C (Corydalis yanhusuo) and Cf(Corydalis yanhusuo flowers) grown in soil were used to investigate the effects of exogenous K on the growth of plants, activities of antioxidant enzymes (SOD,POD and CAT) and Cu accumulation in two C.yanhusuo under 400 mg/kg Cu stress. The results showed the optimal alleviation concentration for K was 200 mg/kg under all levels of Cu stress in terms of plant height and biomass of plants. The addition of 200 mg/kg K significantly alleviated the inhibitory effect of Cu stress on the growth of C.yanhusuo plants.K also decreased the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD),peroxidase (POD) and catalase (CAT),the contents of soluble sugar and malondialdehyde (MDA) in the leaves of C yanhusuo plants under Cu stress, despite of certain leave type difference, suggesting that K could alleviate oxidative damage of C.Yanhusuo plants caused by Cu.In addition, exogenous K supply affected Cu accumulation of the shoots and roots of C.Yanhusuo plants under Cu stress. The effects had significant leaf type difference and complex mechanism.K could significantly reduce Cu in the root of Corydalis yanhusuo.
