Abstract:A low-lying grass land made in field scale and laboratory made up runoff pollutants were used to investigate the pollutant removal rate of low-lying grass land with different vegetation, substrate and return period. The runoff volume reduction effects were investigated in monitored short and long time duration rainfall events. The results show that when the return period is 1 year, the low-lying grass land with paspalum notatum, and substrate thickness of 60 cm showed the best pollutant removal and nnoff volume control results, with removal rate of COD,TP,TN,and SS as 56.3%,72.1%,47.1%,74.3% respectively. The pollutant removal rate decreases with the increase of the return period. The removal rate of COD,TP,SS in 1 year return period was higher than the 5 year and the 10 year return period in the range of 2.9% and 43%.The study will provide application guidance for the improvement of pollutant control and volume reduction in the future.
