Abstract:In order to solve the problems of conventional treatment in the removal of methylene blue from printing and dyeing wastewater,Fe3O4 and Mn2+ were chosen separately as Fenton-like reagents to replace Fe2+ in the conventional Fenton reagent.Concentrations of Fenton-like reagents and H2O2,and initial pH on the removal efficiency of methylene blue were investigated. The results indicated that Fe3O4 instead of FeC12 on the removal rate of methylene blue was lower than 50% and the removal effect was not obvious. The initial H2O2 concentrations slightly affected the removal efficiency of methylene blue.High concentration of H2O2 always resulted in a better removal of methylene blue. When MnCl2 was used as a Fenton-like reagent instead of FeCl2,it had the strongest action in the removal of methylene blue under acidic condition. In the range of 0.04~0.06 mmol/L MnCl2 at pH 3,the removal rate of methylene blue was close to 100%.
