Abstract：The mechanisms and characteristics of the interacti ons betweenmonocro tophos and Yellow River's sediments was discussed. Sorption isotherms of monocro phos is typically nonlinear，and the isotherms fit closely to Freundlich or Lang muir equation. Both adsorption and partition occur to the sorption of monocrophos to Yellow River's sediments，but partition is the predominant.. The separate contribution of adsorption and partition to the total sorption of monocrophos to Yellow River's sediments are analyzed mathematically；the relative effect is a function of the equilibrium concentration of monocrophos.
