Engineering Geological Conditions and Dam Line Optimization of Laguna Reservoir
OU Jie
Abstract:During the preliminary investigation of a reservoir, the engineering geological conditions of the dam site and the selection of the dam line are key factors determining the final dam type.Taking the Laguna Reservoir Project as a case study,a comparative analysis of the upper and lower dam lines was conducted. This analysis covered valley morphology, bank slope topography, stratigraphy and lithology, geological structure, physical geological phenomena, dam foundation conditions,anti-sliding stability of the dam foundation and abutment, and slope stability, based on a systematic evaluation of basic geological conditions and major engineering geological issues in the dam site area.Simultaneously,a comprehensive comparison regarding structure layout and construction investment was carried out in conjunction with hydraulic engineering and construction disciplines.Research results indicated that the upper dam line possessed superior engineering geological and comprehensive construction conditions, leading to its selection as the recommended dam line for this stage.
