Abstract:As a key element of production and daily life, water is the cornerstone of modern urban operations.Understanding the evolution of urban socio-economic development and water demand is crucial for promoting high-quality urban development through intensive water resource management.Through an analysis of changes in industrial scale and water consumption layout in Beijing from 2017 to 2023,combined with data on regional population and socio-economic development,as well as changes in water consumption,it was found that the"Easing,Rectifying and Promoting Upgrading"action and the construction of a water-saving society had significantly improved the urban development environment.Concurrently, regional water use efficiency had increased, and significant changes had occurred in water consumption patterns, following trends where"water follows people,""water follows industry,"and"water follows function."These findings provide a reference for further optimizing urban functions in Beijing under water resource constraints.
