Hydraulic Model Test of the Flood Discharge Bottom Outlet of Washixia Reservoir
Ma Yonglei
Abstract:The hydraulic characteristics of the flood discharge bottom outlet of Washixia Reservoir were studied using hydraulic model tests based on the gravity similarity criterion.Discharge capacity, pressure distribution, flow velocity, and water depth along the path under different operating conditions were systematically analyzed.Additionally, freeboard inside the tunnel, cavitation numbers, and energy dissipation rates were calculated using test data. The results indicated that the discharge capacity met flood control scheduling requirements,no negative pressure occured along the path, flow velocity satisfied sediment flushing requirements, and the internal freeboard complied with specifications.Cavitation number calculations suggested that aeration facilities for erosion reduction are effective, and the energy dissipation rate met engineering needs. The hydraulic model test verified the rationality of the design, ensured the safety of the flood discharge structure, and provided a basis for future reservoir scheduling and operation.
