Abstract:The Panjiakou Reservoir is located in the northeastern part of North China. The freezing period is from early December to early March. The minimum temperature is-21.9℃and the monthly mean minimum temperature is-6.8℃.Due to the location of the dam spillway towards the south and the influence of solar radiation heat, the temperature is usually positive during the day and negative at night in winter. And the dam has been in operation for more than 40 years, the leakage of gate water seal and seepage of dam body result in freezing-thawing erosion of overflow weir surface, which affects the safe operation of reservoir.Based on the comparison and analysis of the treatment schemes for freezing-thawing and denudation of the spillway weirs of several northern reservoirs, and the operational characteristics of the Panjiakou Dam projects,a proposal for the treatment of the Panjiakou Dam Dam spillway surface erosion by freezing and thawing was put forward, which could provide a reference for the Panjiakou Reservoir spillway surface restoration in the future.
