Abstract:The dam site of the Xinmin Reservoir is characterized by steep and narrow terrain, and the flood discharge structure adopts a combination of a lateral spillway and bottom flow energy dissipation.Due to the constraints of basic farmland, the axis layout space at the outlet of the stilling basin is limited, making it impossible to extend its length.Model tests verified that the original design had insufficient energy dissipation efficiency, resulting in severe scouring in the apron section, which threatened the safety of residential houses in the downstream Xinmin Village. An optimized scheme was developed, involving deepening the stilling basin, increasing the volume of water for energy dissipation, and adjusting the elevation of the apron outlet. This comprehensive solution ensures sufficient energy dissipation, reduces flow velocity, and minimizes scouring of the downstream river channel. This study provides technical references for the design and optimization of hydraulic energy dissipation facilities under similar terrain and geological constraints.
