Filling Strength and Stability of Weathered Material for the Gravelly Clay Core Wall Dam at the Lu,e Reservoir

Abstract：The Lu'e Reservoir is a medium-sized water conservancy project in Lüchun County,Yunnan Province.During its construction,a gravelly clay core wall dam using weathered material was selected based on considerations of environmental adaptability and economic efficiency.The filling strength and stability of the dam directly affect the safety of the entire reservoir project.Through grain size distribution tests,density tests,and triaxial compression tests,the physical and mechanical parameters of the filling material were obtained,and the stability of the dam was analyzed and evaluated.The results showed that the strength and overall stability of the dam filling material met the quality requirements of the reservoir.These findings provide bases for the selection of filling materials and the determination of construction plans for similar medium-sized reservoir dams.
