Abstract:Due to changes in operating conditions, some large pump stations require partial demolition and reconstruction to meet new functional requirements.Such modifications can lead to structural changes, making the safety of the pump station during the demolition and reconstruction process a critical concern.Additionally, since parts of the pump station structure are submerged underwater, the impact of material aging on underwater concrete must be considered.Based on the consideration of concrete aging and the performance differences between old and new concrete, this study uses the Fenghuangjing Pump Station as an example.Through numerical simulation analysis, the stress and displacement changes under two reconstruction schemes—demolition before construction and construction before demolition—are compared. The results show that both schemes ensure the structural safety of the pump station during the demolition and reconstruction process when considering concrete material aging. However, the construction-before-demolition scheme exhibits lower overall stress and displacement, and thus it is recommended as the preferred option.
