Engineering Treatment Solutions for Culverts Under Pressure from Embankments

Abstract：Taking three treatment schemes(protection,demolition and reconstruction,and hollow box)for a drainage culvert under pressure from an embankment in the Tianjin area as examples,the engineering treatment solutions and calculation analysis methods for culverts under pressure from embankments were investigated in this study.The treatment effects were primarily evaluated based on settlement differences between the pressured culvert and adjacent culverts,settlement differences between the embankment at the pressure location and adjacent embankments,engineering investment,construction duration,and impacts on the surrounding landscape.For different projects,the calculated settlement differences and treatment effects varied depending on factors such as the specific culvert under pressure,soil cover thickness,and geological conditions.The selection of a specific solution must also consider investment levels,project timelines,landscape requirements,and feedback from operation and management units.
