Abstract:Based on the sea surface temperature(SST)data from the Niño3.4 region from 1989 to 2018,the monthly mean SST values were calculated to study the total data time series and the same-month data as samples. The SST anomaly values and sample standard deviations were computed to determine El Niño and La Niña events and their impacts on precipitation in Hebei Province were analyzed. The results showed that there were significant differences in the monthly mean temperatures of the study time series, with relatively higher average temperatures from March to July and a range of 1.434.The standard deviation calculated from the same-month sample data was smaller than that calculated using the total sample data of the study time series, indicating that the mean values of the same-month data more accurately represented the objective true value. This method provided more precise SST anomaly values. After El Niño events, precipitation in Hebei Province tended to increase, while during La Niña events, precipitation tended to decrease.
