Abstract:Pumped storage power stations,as a type of clean energy with large storage capacity, low cost, and sustainable development, have become an indispensable part of modern power systems. The geological conditions in the lower dam site area of the Dayuefeng Pumped Storage Power Station are relatively complex, with extensive hidden faults that pose potential threats to the dam's water storage function and foundation stability.Comprehensive geophysical exploration methods, such as high-density electrical resistivity tomography and seismic imaging, were employed to investigate the spatial distribution of these hidden faults. The inferred fault fracture zones were found to be consistent with nearby borehole geophysical data, including single-hole acoustic wave testing and panoramic digital borehole imaging.Based on the geophysical exploration results,a pre-feasibility study report was prepared and successfully passed the review by the General Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Planning and Design in August 2023.
