Abstract:Facing the reality that 83%of the regional groundwater does not meet national drinking water safety standards,Dezhou City has prioritized improving the water supply level in rural areas as a people-oriented project to optimize public services and as a key component of creating a model for rural revitalization in Shandong Province.By June 2023,18 plain reservoirs and 23 large-scale water plants have been built, and 100,000 kilometers of water supply pipelines have been laid.It became the first city in China to achieve full urban-rural integrated water supply at the municipal level, with 100%tap water coverage,100%large-scale water supply rate, and 100%water quality compliance.Residents across the city have accessed to safe water that is"same source, same network, same quality, same regulation, and same service."In this paper the development strategies for achieving modernization of rural water supply were proposed based on the investigation and summary of typical practices and an in-depth analysis of key issues.
