Reflections on the Modernization of Management in Pishihang Irrigation District

Abstract:The Pishihang Irrigation District spans the two major river basin of Huaihe and Yangtze River,with an effective irrigation area of 693,000 hectares,benefiting 17 counties(districts)in Anhui and Henan provinces.As a super-large-scale water conservancy project,it integrates multiple functions,including flood control and disaster reduction,irrigation and water supply,hydropower generation,and ecological protection.It is the largest irrigation district in China,constructed under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.The long-term vision for the irrigation district by 2035 aims to fully achieve management modernization.In response to existing issues such as the utilization of irrigation water resources,management of field water conservancy projects,and the reliability of water source guarantees,the potential solutions were analyzed and explored,and the recommendations for the modernization of irrigation district management were proposed.
