Abstract:The sandy slates of the Silurian Bailong River Group on both sides of the Bailong River mainstream valley are relatively developed. The Daigusi Shuibo Gorge is dominated by soft, very thin or thin sericite phyllite intercalated with slate. The foliation is developed and the bank slope stability is poor.Obtaining the strength characteristics of rock mass is the key to the stability analysis of the toppling deformed slope in Shuibo Gorge of Daigusi.Due to the particularity of toppling deformed slope rock mass, the medium-sized direct shear test method for in-situ rock mass was adopted. For the medium-sized direct shear test of toppling deformed slope on field, the sampling methods of manual chiseling and in-situ integrated concreting were adopted, and the capillary water rise and pinhole water injection combined methods were used for sample saturation, which provided guarantee for obtaining reliable rock mass mechanical parameters. The medium-sized direct shear test of remodeled sample was carried out simultaneously. The test results showed that the f and c values of the natural fast shear strength indexes of the indoor reshaped sample of the toppling deformed slope in Daigusi were about 81%and 53%of the undisturbed sample in situ respectively. The saturated consolidation fast shear strength index of indoor reshaped sample was basically equivalent to that of in-situ undisturbed sample.
