Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of accommodative function training on visual acuity and visual evoked potentials in children with amblyopia. Methods Fifty-six children diagnosed with amblyopia who visited our hospitalwere selected and randomly divided into two groups:combined accommodative training treatment group(n=28,observation group)and traditional amblyopia treatment group(n=28,control group). The observation group received traditional amblyopia treatment combined with accommodative function training, while the control group received only traditional amblyopia treatment.Refraction, visual acuity, and visual evoked potentials were assessed before training and one month after training.Changes in refraction, visual acuity, visual evoked potentials, and accommodative function-related indicators were compared between groups before and after training. Results Before and after treatment, there were no significant differences in refraction-related indicators between the two groups(P>0.05).Comparison of visual acuity-related indicators showed that the uncorrected visual acuity and corrected visual acuity were significantly superior in the observation group compared to the control group(P<0.05).The visual acuity of the two groups improved after treatment compared with before treatment, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Comparison of visual evoked potential-related indicators revealed that the latency of P100 wave was significantly shorter and the amplitude was significantly increased in the observation group after treatment(P<0.05),which were significantly pronounced in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the control group before and after treatment(P>0.05).Comparison of accommodative function-related indicators demonstrated significant differences in positive relative accommodation(PRA),negative relative accommodation(NRA),accommodative amplitude(AMP),and FLIPPER between the two groups before and after treatment(P<0.05).Conclusion Accommodative function training effectively improves uncorrected visual acuity and corrected visual acuity in children with amblyopia, enhances accommodative function-related parameters, and may improve visual acuity by strengthening activation of the visual signalling pathway.
