Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of aerobic exercise in the assistance of medications on treating elderly patients with coronary heart disease and hypertension. Methods A total of 104 elderly patients with coronary heart disease and hypertension were selected in the Tangshan Central Hospital from July 2023 to July 2024.They were divided into two groups by random number table method.Fifty-two patients in the control group were given conventional drug treatment and health education, and 52 patients in the observation group were treated with medications combined with aerobic exercise.Treatment lasted for 12 weeks, and patients were followed up for 12 weeks. On admission and the end of follow-up,cardiac function indicators(VO2 at the aerobic threshold[VO2@AT],peak oxygen uptake[VO2 peak],anaerobic threshold working load[AT-WL],maximum working load[MWL],time for exercise load[ELT],oxygen pulse[O2 pulse]),pulmonary function indicators(vital capacity[VC],forced vital capacity[FV C],forced expiratory volume in one second[FEV,],FEV1/FVC,peak expiratory flow[PEF],maximal voluntary ventilation[MVV]),cardiac load indicators(systolic blood pressure at rest[SBPrest],rate-pressure product[RPP],diastolic blood pressure at rest[DBPrest]),and exercise function indicators(6-minute walking test[6MWT],30-second chair stand test[30s-CST],2-minute step test[2MST],timed up & go test[TUGT],grip strength test[Gr])were compared between groups. Results On admission, there were no significant differences in cardiac function indicators, pulmonary function indicators, cardiac load indicators, exercise function indicators between groups(P>0.05).At the end of follow-up,there were significant changes in various indicators, among which VO2@AT,VO2peak,AT-WL,MWL,ELT,O2pulse,VC,FVC,FEV1,FEV1/FVC,PEF,MVV,6MWT,30s-CST,2MST,Gr showed varying degrees of increase, with a significant increase compared to values on admission(P<0.05);While SBPrest,RPP,DBPrest,TUGT showed varying degrees of decrease, with a significant reduction compared to values on admission(P<0.05).At discharge,VO2@AT,VO2peak,AT-WL,MWL,ELT,O2pulse,VC,FVC,FEV1,FEV1/FVC,PEF,MVV,6MWT,30s-CST,2MST,and Gr in the observation group were all significantly higher than the control group(P<0.05);While SBPrest,RPP,DBPrest,TUGT in the observation group were all significantly lower than the control group(P<0.05).Total incidence of adverse events during the follow-up period was significantly lower in the observation group than the control group(1.92%vs 13.46%,P<0.05).Conclusion Aerobic exercise in the assistance of medications can improve heart function and lung function in elderly patients with coronary heart disease and hypertension, which can reduce cardiac load and improve exercise function.
