Correlation between serum levels of adropin,TIMP-4,and miR-221 with prognosis of patients with chronic heart failure

Abstract：Objective To investigate the correlation between the serum levels of adropin,tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases 4(TIMP-4),and microRNA-221(miR-221)with the prognosis of patients with chronic heart failure(CHF).Methods From November 2019 to November 2021,patients with CHF(the case group,n=110)and subjects with healthy physical examination(the control group,n=50)admitted were enrolled in the study.The serum levels of adropin,TIMP-4,miR-221 were assessed in patients with different cardiac function classifications.The patients in the case groups were allocated to good prognosis group(n=70)or poor prognosis group(n=40)according to the prognostic results.The baseline data,and the correlation between the serum levels of adropin,TIMP-4,miR-221 with the prognosis of patients with CHF were analyzed,and the predictive value was evaluated.Results The serum levels of adropin and miR-221 in the case group were significantly higher than those of the control group,while the serum level of TIMP-4 was significantly lower(P＜0.05).The serum levels of adropin and miR-221 gradually increased and TIMP-4 gradually decreased as the increase of cardiac function classification(P＜0.05).The serum levels of adropin and miR-221 in the good prognosis group were significantly lower than those of the poor prognosis group,while the serum level of TIMP-4 was significantly higher(P＜0.05).Serum adropin and miR-221 were independent risk factors for the prognosis of patients with CHF,and serum TIMP-4 was a protective factor(P＜0.05).The area under the curve(AUC)of serum adropin,TIMP-4,miR-221 and the combination of the three for the prognosis of patients with CHF was 0.936,0.995,0.937,0.997,respectively.The AUC of the combination was significantly higher than that of the adropin and miR-221(Z=2.602,2.538,P=0.009,0.011).Conclusion High expressions of serum adropin and miR-221 are risk factors for the prognosis of patients with CHF,while low expression of TIMP-4 is a protective factor,which are associated with cardiac function classification for the evaluation of prognosis of patient with CHF.
