Abstract:Objective This paper aimed to research the clinical effectiveness of low-dose minocycline combined with total glucosides of paeony(TGP)sequential intense pulsed light(IPL)on patients with Facial glucocorticoid-dependent dermatitis(FCAD)and its effect on depression and quality of life. Methods According to the method of random number table,138 patients with FCAD who visited Nantong Third People's Hospital from March 2020 to June 2023 were selected and divided into two groups, treatment group(70 cases)and control group(68 cases). The control group was treated with low-dose minocycline combined TGP for 8 weeks. The treatment group was given IPL treatment once at 2 weeks,4 weeks and 8 weeks on the basis of drug treatment. The patients of both groups were treated with human-like collagen to repaire the skin barrier during the treatment period. The symptoms and signs, efficacy, skin barrier function indexes,treatment-emergent adverse events(TEAEs),depression and quality of life were compared between groups before treatment and at week 1 after treatment. Results Before treatment, there was no significant difference in the scores of main signs and symptoms between the two groups(P>0.05).After treatment, the scores of main signs and symptoms of erythema edema type and papulopustular type in the both groups were significantly lower than those before treatment(P<0.05).The total effective rate of the treatment group was significantly higher than that of the control group(85.07%vs 68.18%,P<0.05).No TEAEs were found in the both group. There was no significant difference in skin barrier function indicators between the two groups of patients before treatment(P>0.05).After treatment, stratum corneum hydration and sebum content of patients in the two groups showed a significant increase compared to before treatment(P<0.05),and the treatment group was significantly higher than the control group(P<0.01).The amount of transepidermal water loss in the both groups was significantly lower than before treatment(P<0.05),and the treatment group was significantly lower than the control group(P<0.01).The Dermatology Life Quality Index(DLQI)and Sheehan Disability Scale(SDS)scores of the patients in the both groups showed that they were influenced by different age groups, disease duration, and clinical manifestations(P<0.001).Patients aged 31-44 years, with a disease duration>1 year, and presenting as papules and pustules were most affected(P<0.01).After treatment, the DLQI and SDS scores of patients in the both groups showed a significant decrease compared to before treatment, and the decrease was more pronounced in the treatment group(P<0.05).Conclusion Low-dose minocycline combined with TGP sequential IPL in treating FCAD has a good efficacy and high safety. It has a positive significance in repairing the skin barrier, improving the psychological state, and improving the quality of life of the patients.
