Abstract:Objective To explore the therapeutic effect of rat nerve growth factor(NGF)and flunarizine in the treatment of low-frequency descending sudden deafness. Methods A total of 98 patients with low-frequency decline sudden deafness visited our hospital from May 2022 to April 2023 were randomized 1∶1 to flunarizine(control group)or NGF+flunarizine(observation group). The effects, safety, sudden deafness, pure tone hearing threshold, abnormal rate of brainstem auditory evoked potential(BAEP),and oxidative stress including nitric oxide(NO),lipid peroxide(LPO),superoxide dismutase(SOD)were assessed between groups before and after treatment. Results The total effective rate of observation group was significantly higher than that of control group(97.96%vs 83.67%,P<0.05).The 7-day and 14-day symptom scores of vertigo, tinnitus and ear distress in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).The 7-day and 14-day pure tone hearing thresholds of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group, and the differences of pure tone hearing threshold before and after treatment was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).The 7-day and 14-day abnormal rates of Ⅰ-peak latency(PL),Ⅲ-PL and Ⅴ-PL in observation group were significantly lower than those in control group(P<0.05).The 7-day and 14-day LPO levels in observation group were significantly lower than those in control group, while the 7-day and 14-day NO and SOD levels were significantly higher(P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was comparable to the control group(14.29%vs 10.20%,P>0.05).Conclusion NGF combined with flunarizine can significantly improve the efficacy of low-frequency decline sudden deafness, reduce clinical symptoms and improve hearing status, which may be related to the anti-oxidative stress damage, damaged neuron repair, auditory brainstem evoked potential regulation and other effects.
