Pain relief management combined with the ADOPT mode improves postoperative pain,psychological stress,and sleep quality in patients with hand injuries

Abstract：Objective To investigate the clinical effect of pain relief management combined with the ADOPT(Attitude,Definition,Open Mind,Planning,and Try It Out)mode on improving postoperative pain,psychological stress,and sleep quality in patients with hand injuries.Methods A total of 120 patients with hand injuries who underwent surgical treatment from January 2022 to June 2023 were recruited.They were randomly divided into the control group and study group,with 60 patients in each group.Patients in the control group received routine intervention,while those in the study group received pain relief management combined with the ADOPT mode for intervention.The postoperative pain situation,psychological status,psychological resilience level,sleep quality,and quality of life were compared between groups.Results Visual Analog Scale(VAS)scores on days 1([5.43±0.23]points vs[7.12±0.27]points),3([3.26±0.19]points vs[6.02±0.25]points)and 7([1.97±0.11]points vs[4.12±0.21]points)postoperatively were significantly lower in the study group than the control group(P＜0.05).The post-intervention Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale(HAMA)and Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD)scores were significantly reduced after interventions in both groups,which were significantly lower in the study group than the control group(HAMA:[8.16±1.34]points vs[13.28±2.46]points;HAMD:[9.28±1.46]points vs[14.82±3.57]points;bothP＜0.05).The Chinese version of the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale(CD-RISC)scores were significantly elevated after interventions in both groups,which were significantly higher in the study group than the control group(P＜0.05).The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)was significantly reduced after interventions in both groups,which was significantly lower in the study group than the control group(P＜0.05).The 36-Item Short Form Survey(SF-36)score was significantly elevated after interventions in both groups,which was significantly higher in the study group than the control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion In patients with hand injuries undergoing surgical treatment,the use of pain relief management combined with the ADOPT mode intervention can improve postoperative pain,psychological stress reactions,sleep quality and quality of life.
