Impact of nutritional intervention on the nutritional status,frailty and dietary behavior of elderly hospitalized patients:based on dietary inflammation index

Abstract：Objective To explore the impact of nutritional intervention based on dietary inflammatory index(DⅡ)on the nutritional status,frailty and dietary behavior of elderly hospitalized patients.Methods A total of 90 elderly hospitalized patients in the Department of General Medicine at the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University from January 2022 to June 2023 were randomly divided into a control group and an intervention group by using a simple number randomization method,where the 45 patients of control group received routine nutritional intervention,and 45 patients of intervention group received a DⅡ-based nutritional intervention plan for 3 months.Nutritional status,frailty status and healthy eating behavior levels between groups before and after intervention were compared.Results There were no significant differences in the nutritional status,frailty status and healthy dietary behavior levels between groups before intervention(P＞0.05).After 3 months of intervention,serum levels of prealbumin(PA),albumin(Alb),hemoglobin(Hb),transferrin(TF)and healthy eating behavior in the intervention group were significantly higher than those of the control group,while the total scores of physical weakness,social weakness,psychological weakness and frailty were significantly lower than those of the control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion DⅡ-based nutritional intervention program can improve the nutritional status of elderly hospitalized patients,which is favorable to the prognosis of frailty syndrome and the development of healthy dietary habits.It has a certain clinical practical value.
