Application values of SF and FT4 in individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and in a normal thyroid function

Abstract：Objective To explore the application values of serum ferritin(SF)and free thyroxine(FT4)in the diagnosis of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)complicated with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).Methods A total of 165 T2DM patients admitted to Shijiazhuang Second Hospital from December 2020 to December 2021 were randomly selected and divided into simple T2DM group(control group,n=47)and T2DM complicated with NAFLD group(NAFLD group,n=118)according to the results of quantitative ultrasound fat content.The general clinical biochemical,tumor markers and thyroid hormone indexes were compared between the two groups.The independent risk factors of T2DM complicated with NAFLD were analyzed by multivariate binary Logistic regression analysis.The receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve was plotted,and the area under the curve(AUC),sensitivity and specificity were calculated to evaluate the application values of SF,FT4 and their combination in diagnosing T2DM complicated with NAFLD.Results Body mass index(BMI),C-peptide,triglyceride(TG)and TG/high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol(HDL-C)in NAFLD group were significantly higher than those of control group(P＜0.05).Compared with the control group,the SF level in NAFLD group was significantly increased(P＜0.05),and the level of FT4 was significantly decreased(P＜0.05).Multivariate binary Logistic regression analysis showed that SF and FT4 were independent risk factors for NAFLD in T2DM patients.A combination detection of SF and FT4 in predicting T2DM complicated NAFLD was superior to that of a single detection.Conclusion The combination detection of SF and FT4 plays a positive role in evaluating T2DM complicated with NAFLD.
