Abstract:Objective To study the clinical effect of low-sugar and high-fat nutrition management based on the elderly nutritional risk index of elderly gastric cancer patients with chemotherapy. Methods A total of 168 elderly gastric cancer patients treated with chemotherapy from January 2022 to June 2023 in the Oncology Department of Rugao People's Hospital were included as research objects and randomly divided into two groups by drawing lots, with 84 cases in each group. The control group was given the management program during conventional chemotherapy, and the study group was additionally given the low-sugar and high-fat nutrition management program based on the nutritional risk index of the elderly. The nutritional status, immune function and chemotherapy tolerance of the two groups were compared under different management schemes. Results Before intervention, there were no significant differences in physical strength and fatigue scores, nutritional indexes(hemoglobin, albumin and prealbumin levels),and immunological indexes(IgG,IgM,IgA,CD3+,CD4+and CD4+/CD8+levels)between the two groups(P>0.05).Physical strength and fatigue scores significantly decreased, while nutrition and immunological indexes significantly increased after intervention, which were more pronounced in the study group than the control group(P<0.05).The incidence of gastrointestinal reactions and insomnia in the study group was significantly lower than that of the control group, and the chemotherapy tolerance rate was significantly higher(all P<0.05).Conclusion Low-sugar and high-fat nutrition management based on the elderly nutritional risk index can improve the nutritional status, immune function, physical strength and fatigue symptoms in elderly gastric cancer patients with chemotherapy, improve tolerance and reduce the risk of chemotherapy-associated adverse events.
